Community Mobilization for Increased Access To AGYW

AGYW at a Bonanza Event

The approach was further strengthened by engaging other stakeholders: MDH who is the project funder (see below), LGAs at ward level and Health Service Providers (HSPs) from nearby HFs engaged to offer screening services.  A dialogue session of Q & A on targeted service messages and events are facilitated by H-Foundation Team.

A dialogue session of question and answers on DREAMS services.

In addition to events and Q&A sessions, small gifts are distributed to those who gave out correct answers and winners from the event at the end of the event to increase motivation.

Lessons and best practices from this events approach are (1) involving community leaders in the preparation involves and increases awareness on their roles and facilitates program ownership. (2) There is increased awareness for hard to reach services such as PrEP and uptake; (3) speedy enrolment towards targets; (4) the presence of HF staff facilitates screening for referral on biomedical services.
