Safe Spaces for Adolescents and Young People

A safe space is where Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) meet to access weekly session delivery by Community Outreach volunteers (COVs) and other community services. This package of services delivered at weekly sessions includes sessions on cash savings and money lending, age-appropriate Sexual and Reproductive Health education, HIV prevention, screening for referral to HFs for further screening and services delivery by HF staff.

The spaces are identified by group members themselves based on a set criterion that ensures safety and done in collaboration with village leaders. Pictured is a COV delivering session in Nshamba Ward-Muleba.
